A Renaissance Garden in San Quirico D’orcia

The Great Lawn, Central Park

New York, NY

McCobb led the design of the reconstruction of the Great Lawn while serving as Senior Landscape Architect at the Central Park Conservancy. Given that the Lawn had been built in the 1930's over the original Croton Reservoir, the reconstruction of the Great Lawn presented challenges unlike any other project in Central Park. The broad goals of the design were to restore the Lawn, re-green the entire fifty-five-acre area, clarify a disjointed path system, and to restore the wildlife habitat and natural character of Turtle Pond.
